Hi,

I am having surgery this week, not scared of the procedure at all, have had many major surgeries on my spine in the past.

But I am crying all the time, which is definitely not me. I am also a diabetic, my sugar levels are fine...........am so happy to

start my new life, but can't expalin my feelings. Has anyone else out there experienced this? Also feeling very weak on the pre- surgery diet, getting enough calories. Has anyone else experienced this?

Any help you could provide, would really be appreciated............Thanks Lori

Lori,

The calorie restriction can really mess with your emotions. It is going to be ok. Just be gentle with yourself.

Best wishes.

Thank you so much...............Lori

You may also just be realizing just how much this surgery is going to improve your health/quality of life. If this surgery has been a long time coming (like it is for so many), the reality of it actually happening may be hitting you, too. Just another idea.

I personally went through the weepys last week. I personally was realizing this was going to improve my life, change it and my best friend (food) was being served with eviction papers.

Good luck things will be great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
