How long have you been banded? Do you have restriction?

Why not get some liquid Tylenol and make sure you are hydrated?

How long have you been banded? Typically, you are required to crush your meds. My advice would be to call your local pharmacy and make sure your headache medicine can be crushed. If it can, then use your pill crusher (if you have one). If you do not have one, break the pill up into as many small pieces as you can. I always keep a bottle of adult strength liquid Tylenol.

I was never required to crush my medications. We were told to use liquid tylenol at first and by the time we were back on solid foods we could take tylenol capsules or caplets.

My doctor doesn't want us to take NSAIDs (Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs) such as Aspirin, Bufferin, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Anacin, etc. Please check with YOUR doctor about what you can take.

I ended up breaking two motrin pills in half an swallowing them peice by peice... Thank you for the replies everyone... I was banded on decemeber 20th and because I have healed so fast and felt so good I was able to convince my dr to do my first fill at my first post op appt... I don't really feel any restriction I do get full faster but I feel like I'm still getting hungry quickly... I haven't has a blocked episode yet but that may be because I'm so scared that anytime I eat anything hard I almost immediately take papaya enzyme

That's true, the large majority of headaches are cured by drinking a big glass of Water....

Papaya enzyme is a chewable pill that starts the breakdown of food when it reaches it... It aids in digestion and my dr. Has it on a list of things to get rid of a blockage.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
