mattie7632 24 Posted January 10, 2011 O.M.G. I didn't notice before today due to soreness and lots of glue on my skin, but my belly button is butchered! It now looks like I have the bride of Frankensteins "belly button" surrounding a HOLE where the belly button would be. This is unbelievable, my surgeon is supposed to be the best around. I would have preferred an open procedure than this! I seriously feel I am going to have to get a belly button piercing just so I can cover it with a big gem!!! Or get a plastic surgeon to fix it. Anyone else disappointed in their new button job ??
zeniada 9 Posted January 10, 2011 I didnt have my surgery through my belly button so I cant relate but maybe the swelling will go down and it will go back to normal...
Pinkygirl 34 Posted January 10, 2011 I thought the same about my belly button! But don't worry it will go back to normal. I was so mad about it cuz this procedure Is the single incision one and then when I saw my belly button I cried. I had it done dec 20th and it's not even been a month and it's going away. I think the dry blood is what made it look bad!
mattie7632 24 Posted January 10, 2011 Thanks Fayfay! That makes me feel s little better, but still--there literally is a HOLE with a little bump on the side now, how in the world will that just get filled in? I'm getting the feeling that most people's buttons are just fine afterwards! I thought the same about my belly button! But don't worry it will go back to normal. Melissannde 41 Posted January 10, 2011 Give it time. I had a lap hyst about 16 months before banding, so between that, my two c/sections & banding, you can play "connect the dots" on my abdomen. ::grin:: My hubby says it makes a Christmas tree. LOL But seriously, even though I have a fair amount of scars, they have all faded tremendously. By the time you're ready to wear a bikini again, I bet it won't be all that noticeable. mattie7632 24 Posted January 10, 2011 Thanks so much! I'm no virgin to surgery so I was a bit alarmed this time as it looks so much worse than anything ever before. But what the hay, I'll just have my belly button done in time if needed! LOL, but first the face lift....... Give it time. AlienBandit 10 Posted January 11, 2011 I had problems with how my belly button looked after surgery too. Then i had to have surgery through my belly button 2 more times. Now I have tried to have it corrected 2 more times with no luck. Your belly button is a tricky thing to fix because when u lie down your belly button looks a lot different then when you are standing. Give it time to heal and if you dont like it maybe talk to your doctor about what you want to do with it.
kimberleec 0 Posted January 11, 2011 Give it time. I was banded on 11/15 and once I can my senses about me and began examining my incisions I was totally upset that he had gone through my belly button. It felt huge under the steri strips, once the came off it looked even worse and I was certain that I would have to do something to get it fixed. Now almost two months later it is still not 100% healed but it looks awesome and you will never be able to tell there was ever anything. So hopefully its just swollen and angry from the surgery and will settle down.

Through one of the sites, I had a hiatal hernia repair. That does not sound right. Did you call your surgeon? You need an explanation of some type to understand what and why. lauragshsu 6 Posted January 12, 2011 I had the single incision lapband through my belly button....three times (initial banding and two revisional procedures). Now, almost 10 months post op, it's just a small pink line going horizontally across the top, inner part of my belly button. The thing with the belly button that you absolutely need to keep it covered. Mine had a horrible time healing because pants kept poking at it and bending over too quickly after it had initially closed. Mine ended up opening back up about 5 weeks post op, three days after closing. It stayed open until about two weeks ago. I got a port infection because of it and had to have my port removed, let it heal, then opened uo again to replace the port (and clean up all the "bad" tissues). Make sure you keep it covered and see your Dr if you are worried about it not healing.
