Finally!

Recommended Posts

Let me start by saying that I hate exercising. I hate sweating, I hate feeling sore, and I hate being out of breath. I was so frustrated the past month and a half because 3 weeks after surgery, I stopped losing weight. I was bouncing back and forth between 281-286. Nothing worked. I was counting calories and making sure I ate enough, eating tons of Protein, and walking but NOTHING!

I finally found what works. I'm watching what I eat more carefully, and finally I've found an exercise program that works. I get bored easily and was thrilled that my mom bought me Just Dance 2 for the Wii for Christmas. I do about 6 dances every morning. I also started the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Anderson, and I'm using a recumbent bike for 30 minutes a day on programs that change up the resistance. I was 289 at my last fill a on Dec 28th, and today I'm 279. I'm so excited about the band again.

I've been so negative, that I thought I'd post a positive here. There IS hope!

Working out is ESSENTIAL to lodong weight....and you will look better in the long run! I have lost 80 lb in 7 months (started on the low side at 255 and wore a 22 pant) and I am wearing size 12 pants....i totally blame the gym ;) I started slow but have worked my way up to close to 2 hours of some type of activities a day (zumba,p90x,jillian 30day shred, gym, bootcamp my choices never make me bored) KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!! :)

Thanks for sharing your story and what helps for you to kick start your weight lose again. I too have struggled between 289 - 286 for several months now. I started back in the gym last week and intend on keeping this up. I want to lose my hundred pounds before my 2yr anniversary in July.

Trish, I'm glad you mentioned this because I keep hearing people discuss this 6 weeks of banster hell. I keep wondering if they're exercising . I am DETERMINED I am going to exercise my way through this " Bandster Hell" AND lose weight in the process. I've already started working out and I am 7 days post op. For me , Zumba is my activtity of choice. Once I can start pushing weights, I will be seeing a personal trainer.

I'd kill for a wii and just dance. I saw it on tv and I was like "i'd love that!" as of now I just have work out videos and my exercise bike. I cant exercise yet though my surgeon is having me wait till 2 weeks post-op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
