After Dr. Billy's lecture on caloric intake, Chris actually listened. He's got "great respect for the only man that knows how to shut his wife up."

So out of respect for Billy, Chris (completely clueless when it comes to nutrition, calories, fat grams, sugar, etc.) has decided to see if he can stay within my required 1200 calories today. He asked me to put a chart up, and has been bugging me for calorie counts. If anyone knows how many calories a cup of spaghetti meat sauce contains, I'd really appreciate it.

So he just came running to me because he forgot to tell me he drank a Sprite. He can't even figure out how to read the "Chinese" nutrition label, so I explained one serving had 100 calories. When I told him his large bottle contained two servings that equal 200 calories, he got all pissed off and stormed out of the room mumbling, "If I knew it had 200 F-ing calories, I certainly wouldn't have drinkin' the crap."

He's killing me!

Dear DeLarla, Someone suggested fitday.com and it is a great website. It not only has calories, but carbs, fats etc. There is even a pie chart that tells you what percent of fats, carbs etc. for your daily intake, great for people on Atkins and So Beach Diet. You can journal your food intake and create foo "labels" for foods that you eat often that are not already on their list. Check it out, Its a great tool!

Don'tcha love it when people actuall realize how hard it is to diet and stay at 1200 calories. You should say WELCOME TO MY WORLD !!! rofl.

Tell DH that a cup of meat sauce is about 350 calories. Beef is one of the higher in fat/calorie meats....sucks I know.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
