I was wondering because I was self pay banded in Mexico, and my insurance pays nothing for obesity related anything. I mean God fobid something like this happened to me, does insurance have to pay?? Alexandra 55 Posted December 31, 2005 Obviously you'd have to ask your insurer, but in general if you had a medical emergency that required surgery it would be covered. The emergency isn't obesity-related, after all. If you're having something non-emergent done, like a port adjustment, that might not be covered. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
