Getting banded on 1.17.11, anyone else?

Recommended Posts

Hi, my name is Christine. I live in LA, California and am awaiting my surgery date! I am being banded on 1.17.11. I am a teacher and am going to take 5 working days off. The 17th is a holiday, so I will not go back to work until the following Tuesday (1.25.11). Does that sound right? Is anyone else getting banded on the 17th?

Hi, I'm in Orange County, CA. I'm getting banded on the 12th and going back to work after the holiday on the 18th. I'm in education also.

Are you excited? Where are you having the procedure done? I'm going to have it at Marina del Rey Hosp. The doctor usually has the patients stay home for 2 weeks but I feel like that is so long to be away from school. I just learned about this website - I've been looking for people who have been banded. The only people I know who have bariatric surgery have had gastric bypass. I'm also on youtube (bandaid612).

yes, I am excited. I know I will be nervous in the next few days. I saw your video. So cool! I am doing a 10 day liquid diet. Are you doing the same? Meal Replacement shakes and Soup. Yuck! Read the binder, bookmarked some wls recipe sites and made my list of things to take to the hospital. I have to stay over 1 night at UCI so I need to pack a bag. Nice to chat with you. Let's keep in touch as our procedures are just a couple days apart. smile.gif

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
