i was banded on jan3. i went to dr.marley in windber, pa - his team is absolutely wonderful!! i spent this past week relaxing while my body healed, a lot of sleeping, pogo games, movies and reading. i feel much better, except for the tenderness in my abdomen. but its not that bad! i am down 8lbs so far =) i return to work on jan17, i am a med nurse at a very busy skilled nursing home. so can't follow the 20lb wt restriction there! my husband, family and friends have been so supportive. i love reading everyone's posts on here, the advice is great! i am so excited to start losing this fat!!!!

Welcome!

Wow what a challenge to work at a nursing home! I'm glad you got such a nice chunk of time off to recover it must feel really good. How great that you have even lost weight during your healing phase! By next year you will be a whole new person. Just keep at it and keep going in for fills and "check ins" . You need plenty of support from your surgeons team too.

I wish you all the best!

Good luck on your journey!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
