Thank You Everyone!

Recommended Posts

I just want to say thank you to everyone who contributes to this forum. It has been such a remarkable help to me as I have been researching and planning my journey to Bandlandia!

With the New Year quickly approaching, I was waiting to hear news as to whether or not my insurance would cover my Lap-Band. To be perfectly honest, I was expecting a denial… But to my surprise I received an approval letter in the mail today. I didn’t think it could be true and was so unsure that I drove all the way to the doctor’s office to show them (they haven’t gotten their copy yet)… It has been confirmed, I am approved for surgery!!! The doctor’s office needs to get their copy and then they will call me with a surgery date… when we pushed the office surgery for some idea she said that for sure I would be “banded” before March 15th.

I have to keep pinching myself to make sure I am awake. I have decided to only tell a few close people in my life and well… of course all of you… my new extended family.

Thank you again for all your great support and advice. It is so helpful; you just can’t imagine how much I appreciate all of your feedback and daily support. I may not post much, but I read every day and once I am banded… I hope to have more insightful comments to add.

Take Care Everyone and Happy New You!

Congrats! I'm glad that things worked out for you, and I look forward to hearing about your progress.

As for telling people, I think that telling just a few people at first is probably the best way to go, so you don't have to deal with scrutiny from people who expect the weight to melt off instantly.

Only a couple of close pals and my immediate family know about my band. BUT...I figure that once I lose another 30 pounds, I will feel confident enough to go public to everyone, because I want to spread the word about this great option. ;)

Congratulations on beating the insurance monster! I remember that amazing feeling of opening the letter to find an approval. I almost fainted, having been expecting a big fat NO on my third appeal.

Let us know when your date is and we'll be cheering you on from the sidelines. Congratulations again!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
