My diet wasn't just shakes so I can't advise....I was on low carb for the same reason. That's no fruit, bread, sugar of any kind. Maybe you can start the shake only until you can call someone.....Dr office, nutritionist...if they are away sick - don't they have someone answering phone? Do you have a number to call monday?

i was put on a 2 week pre op diet where 2 meals were a high Protein low sugar shakes - like ensure or carnation and the 3rd meal was under 1200 calories. yea, i so did not follow it and my surgeon never said anything after surgery about my liver being too large (whew!!). i had hoss's for lunch and olive garden for dinner the day before my surgery! i've been reading that some surgeons are not even reccomending the pre op diet because it isn't worth it. i'm not advising that you do what i did, i'm just telling you what happened for me =) getting a lot of protein is the key, i think 40 grams per day. Walmart and other stores usually have a section w/ high Protein Shakes. good luck!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
