Drinks!

Recommended Posts

I am soooo tired of Water. I was addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper and am missing it REALLY bad. I have tried stir in flavors and I don't like them. I have tried tea and I don't like it. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try? :-(

I know.....I was on the diet coke.....I'm beginning to taste it after I eat a meal! (cravings  ) I still think about the feeling we might get if we did drink any. I lthink I'd be afraid to let it go flat and drink it. It still might cause some gas and lead to swelling. I stick with different flavored crystal light and propel drinks. I love iced tea so will be making more of that. They have peach tea ect that tastes more like the fruit than the tea.

If you're missing the fizz, not much I can suggest.

If you're missing the caffeine, and your doc says it's ok.. try coffee or there's a caffeinated Protein drink called "Click" that you might like ( I don't care for it myself).

I have become a big coffee fan.. with 1 tbspn fat free half/half & 2 tbspn s/f Choc. Syrup (torani or davinci brands).

Other things I drink:

Water, Powerade ZERO, diet snapple, Propel, Lemon flavored water (forget the brand name.. but it's non carbonated). Try all different kinds of Crystal Lite (and the store brands there of.. Target has margarita flavored !! and I like the Kroger store brand Decaf tea with lemon)

Ever so often I will have a Fuze Slenderize but not regularly as they are 20 calories a bottle and I try to stay at 10 cal/16oz. Oceanspray has diet versions of its cranberry drinks that are OK in moderation.

Keep trying, you'll find something. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
