"Sweet Spot" How many cc's did it take to reach?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I had my first fill this week, 1.5 cc added to 3cc that was in my band from surgery. I am feeling some restriction and have my next fill on Feb 4th. How many total cc's did it take for you to reach your sweet spot? How many total fills?

Thanks! Joan

I'm kinda confused as to what that even means... I know it sounds silly, but what am I supposed to feel after all these fills? I'm not hungry now... will I just get fuller faster?

The sweet spot is also referred to as the green zone. Is the amount in the band at which you continue to lose 2 lbs a week and can eat properly. The band is not too tight, but allows enough restriction that you can continue to lose weight well. I haven't hit mine but I have another fill on wednesday. I have 5.5 ccs. I have read that the sweet spot for most people is 7-9 ccs.

Thanks Sam!

That is helpful information. I guess I'll be at 7.5cc at my March appt. if my doc adds 1.5cc each time.

Heather,

If you can eat a reasonable meal and not be hungry for 4-5 hours, then you already are at your sweet spot.

Hmm, yea but I could eat more, so I'm policing myself. BUT I'm not getting hungry at all in between.

Even when I was overfilled, I could eat more. Some people do get physical restriction. Most seem to get it at the cost of a long list of foods they can no longer eat, and/or frequent stuck and sliming episodes.

According to my surgeon, the band works by putting pressure on the vagus nerves, which tell the stomach to stop producing ghrelin, the hunger hormone.

I feel very close to my "sweet spot" and Im at 7cc in an 11cc band. My next fill is on Tuesday and I am hoping that gets me there. its hard for to me tell if Im at my sweet spot because some days I feel like it and others I don't. I do get stuck sometimes when I eat too quickly or too big of bites but still feel like I can eat alot more than a half cup. I just dont want to be overfilled!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
