Weight Watchers help

Recommended Posts

I posted this in the lapband fills section, but figured I should've put it here.

I was banded on 12/15/10. I have always loved weight watchers and would like to follow the program now and just adjust it to fit my new lifestyle. I signed up for the online program and took the quiz and it says that I should eat 31 points plus points per day. Obviously this is way more than I can eat now. Does anyone else do this with a band and if so, how many points do you eat and what is your weight? Thanks!!

If you just got banded you should not be doing weight watchers. There are certain things you need fresh post op that you cant have on weight watchers like carbs. You will not lose weight like that. Dont do it and follow the meal plan your doctor told you too. Once you are at your goal weight or a year down the road and you stop losing then that may be an option but not a couple weeks post op I wouldnt do it. Its going to set you up big time for failure.

WW does allow carbs. But you don't really need WW, unless you like the support they give. I think you will have a hard time eating 31 points worth of food with a band. I did it before and had to eat 28 points and that was a lot of food . I'd stick with one diet at a time and since you are banded deal with that one and maybe use WW to help you keep your weight off later.

Yes weight watchers allows carbs which two weeks post op you should not be having. Im telling you that is not the way to go and dont do it.

I guess I should've been more clear. I'm 3 weeks post op and my dr has cleared me to pretty much eat any wholesome foods. I like the weight watchers website for tracking my food and activity. I expressed this to my dr and he said it was an excellent program and as long as I'm getting my Protein that I would be fine. I asked this question because I have been tracking since I started on solids and I'm only eating 8-10 points per day. I'm just curious if other people have done both and what they have experienced.

I guess that's what I'll keep doing. I love thier website. It's so user friendly. My dr didn't give me any guideline of how many calories to eat, just that I should be eating 3 meals a day with 3 ounces of Protein in each meal, 1/2 cup of veggies and 1/4 cup of carbs.

If your doctor approved it I think that's fine. I agree it's important to ensure you are getting enough Protein in 60-80 g, 3 oz per meal. Half of this battle is emotional. If you feel supported and are using WW online as a tool what's the harm?

I've been thinking about signing up for Weight Watchers or Nutrisystem, just so I can get the small food portions.

disneymom my nutritionist said the same thing 3oz. of Protein, 1/2 cup of veggies, and 1/4 cup of carbs. Mine said to eat 3 meals each day and no snacking in between. Question?...Thats 9oz of protein per day. How do we get 60 grams of protein in 9 oz.? Question 2..Where does the fruit come in? Is it off limits?

I sure hope your nutritionist explained it to you so you can tell me. LOL..ps Ive been drinking Protein Shakes in between meals.

I must have misread your post above that said "things you can't have on Weight Watchers like carbs.". That's why I asked.

I did weight watchers after surgery but before I had restriction. I think it is good for tracking what you actually eat but I would just not worry about getting all of your points in. You can totally adapt any program your Dr. gives you to work. Just listen to your band and body about how much you need to eat. It totally saved me during "bandster hell."

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
