1st Day Post Op- Feeling Very Sore

Recommended Posts

Hello Everybody,

I had my lapband surgery yesterday and everything went fine, I don't even feel hungry at all or even thristy at all but I am making sure I keep up on my liquids so im no dehyrdrated.

However I am feeling really sore and it hurts when I breathe, I have burped a couple of times to get some of the gas out but I feel like Im just full with gas. Does anybody know how long it might take to get all the extra gas out from the surgery?

Thanks in Advance

Start walking the gas should disperse within the first week but your going to be sore especially your port site for a long time at least three months

I thinki was burping all the time and making sure everyone heard me too!! Walking will help even if it's for short times. And I know when I had a cracked rib I had that machine to help me breathe so I wouldn't get pnumonia. I started doing without the machine. It's just inhaling slowly as long as you can and releasing it. I built up the time each time and thought it helped me. So it wasn't for many times when I started but it got better each time. I didn't want to be out of breathe very long!! Before that I just always seemed out of breathe.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
