Lonely up here in Canada

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

In my Quest to make sure all of my questions get answered before I go ahead with the surgery, I've created somewhat of a small fear in my mind. If I go ahead with the surgery I will almost certainly be headed for Mexico as I have insufficient documentation to warrant getting it covered by medical here and would ultimately pay less than half down there. My concern is that I will struggle to find a doctor here in Alberta that will do my fills because of legal issues or what have you. If there happen to be any Canucks out there who have dealt with this already I would love to here from you. Thanks much.

Lanie

hi! is going to WA an option? there are dr's in seatle that would likely see you.

i would DEFINITALLY find a dr BEFORE you have the surgery who will treat you locally. you could have any number of complications and always better to be prepared and not need it then need it and be S.O.L. maybe your primary dr could do some research on the band and learn to do fills. they are so simple its just a shot! you could give him INAMED's website address and he could probably contact them to get some band info.

i am in WA, near spokane and will be going to baniff this summer!

I understand what your going threw, but no fear I know some doctors who are certified and awesome.I know quite a few lapband patients who are very very successful in weight loss.I know a awesome hospital in Mexico where you will get nothing but tender loving care. and a great price. Are you interested.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
