Taking down Vitamin after lap band?

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering If anyone has been having problems taking the Vitamins after lap band, because I can't even take some of them down now and I havent had my surgery yet. My Lap band date is Jan 14th. Some pills are so big and make me gag now. I'm a little worried that I would have a problem with this. I know you can find chewables for certain kind, but would really love to know about this.

My Dr suggests Adult gummies which he directed me to take after the first week post-op. They taste just like candy and I just chew them up and swallow.

I cannot get a multi Vitamin down without gagging. Other pills don't bother me but that mulit Vitamin is huge. I'm getting banded on 1/11/11 so I went on a chewable multi vitamin last week. Kinda embarassing chewing a vitamin shaped like a dinasaur but they taste good and they go down easily. After surgery, I believe I need to chew one in the morning and again at night.

I've had trouble finding liquid tylenol. I went to Walmart and Target and they were both out. I'm going to check Walgreens today.

If you're on prescription meds, you're suppose to contact your pharmacist to see if they can be crushed. Just noticed that on my pre-op paperwork.

Good Luck!

Hi. My doctor recommeded Flintsone Chewables; but I found a costco Kirkland brand that has the same specs but is less money. I don't really mind Vitamin time in the morning. I take chewable: Fiber gummies, multi vitamin and Calcium.< /p>

I took the flintstones too after surgery, but i'm now able to get down my regular multi Vitamin. I haven't experienced the tightness in the morning yet that every one talks about but in preparation for that, i started taking it at bedtime just in case.

Centrum makes an adult chewable. Then there's Celebrate, fusion, Bariatric Advantage & Building Blocks which are all focused on the WLS community.

costco carries a liquid multi called ReViva and they also mke a liquid Calcuim Citrate. I have been using both for 6 months now and LOVE them. Price is right too about $11 each for a bottle and they last over a month. I also use sub-lingual (under the tongue) B-12 which you can find at most health food stores.

chewables or gummies. I was using gummies, but stopped taking them. Your post just reminded me that I wanted to start taking them again.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
