Well they took 1 cc out and I feel a lot better.

Recommended Posts

I went to see the doc today and they took out 1 cc. I had been having a hard tiime eating through out the last week or so. I was having issues of making the food stay down with out burping it back up. They also told me to drink 1oz of pineapple juice 30 min before eating. I was able to eat dinner now with little discomfort. I hope to feel better by tomorrow although I already feel a big difference. I am still losing weight and happy to hopefully be back on track with eating. I have lost 67 lbs since Oct 22 with no fills. I feel that I have been very lucky with the success. I will take it how ever I can get it. I started at 344 and now I am at 277. I sure love this forum because there is useful info and great people. Keep up the good work everyone.

Congrats Chavez on your wt loss!!! 67 lbs with no fills that's great! I had my first fill today after doing pretty well the past 6 wks with no fill- about 22 lbs down (my stats indicate loss with pre op liquid diet also)...

Anyway, everything is going down well so far knock on wood! How much did your dr. put in initially before you got the unfill, if I may ask?

Keep up the great work! :)

Susan

Congrats on your success. Sounds like you are doing great!

I'm curious about the pineapple juice. That is the first time I've heard that suggestion. Do you know what it does to help?

I had 3 cc's before the unfill.

As far as the pineapple I am not sure what it does. I will let you all know if it makes a difference. I have only tried it once but I think the unfill is what made the difference. I will keep you updated.

Some people think that an enzyme in pineapple juice helps digest foods. The problem with the juice is that it's full of sugar. You might ask if you can try papaya enzyme if the juice stalls your weight loss. The papaya comes in chewable tablets and does the same job as the pineapple. I've usually heard the pineapple or papaya recommended as a help for stuck issues instead of a preventative.

I suspect it was the unfill also that made the difference. Glad you're feeling better.

Agree 100%. Definitely invest in some papaya chewables. Tasty and they do help!

Glad u are feeling better. I too recently went in for an unfill. I got a large one because I am now maintaining. Boy was I tired of getting sick and having to eat so carefully. I also missed eating Breakfast and eating whole wheat bread and whole wheat Pasta. I feel so much better and haven't been real hungry. I splurged on some chinese food and didn't like the scale this morning. I will cut back until I loose 3 pounds. I wonder if you even need the pineapple juice. I would try without it and see how it goes. It may be the unfill that did the trick.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
