Ashly 1 Posted January 5, 2011 Hey All, so I just got my first fill yestrerday. I have an 11 cc band and my doctor put 6cc's in it. I thought that I would have a lot of restriction from it but I actually have none still. I eat as slow as I can and watch the intake, but i always stop myself before I get full, otherwise i can eat more then 2-3 cups worth of food. Does anyone else have an 11 cc band or close to it? If so what has been a good fill for you to feel restriction?
2beskinny 4 Posted January 5, 2011 More common than not to have no restriction after first fill. Hang in there. It took me four fills to begin feeling it.
bwhitty 1 Posted January 5, 2011 I just had my first fill as well. 6.5cc's in a 14cc band. Today was my first day of regular food. I felt full after 3oz of steak w/ lil BBQ Sauce and less then 1/4c of cauliflower. But I still feel I'm in the trial stages of the 1st fill...
Mommyto1 1 Posted January 6, 2011 I've had 2 fills (totaling 6cc's in an 11cc band) and I still don't have restriction. My doctor told me most people don't get real restriction until 7-9cc's, but every person is different. My next fill is scheduled for January 31.
honk 780 Posted January 6, 2011 Wow 6 CC in a first fill is a lot. I am just now getting restriction at 9.4 and that took 5 fills.
bamamom 1 Posted January 6, 2011 I had my first fill 2 days before Christmas... did well through the holiday... but now I feel like I could eat anything and I'm hungry about 2 hrs after I eat. I'm trying to follow the rules, but I'm getting frustrated because I'm exercising and eating good, but I keep losing and gaining the same 2 lbs. I have 6cc in a 10cc band. I'm scheduled for another fill Jan. 24, so I'm just trying to hang on. I might try liquids for a day to try to jump start my weight loss again. Now that the holidays are over... most of the temptations are out of the house, so I know that will help. Just a side note... if anybody wants a good workout... try a Kettlebell. I got one for Christmas and do squats with it almost everytime I go in my bathroom (I keep it out, so I'll use it). It looks like a cannonball with a handle and it is a workout!!! I was walking funny for a few days after I used it the first time. Hope we get restriction soon!!
Nicole74 4 Posted January 6, 2011 I have an 11cc band and it took me 3 fills before I started to feel restriction. that 3rd fill took me to 7cc's..my doctor told me too most people feel restriction between 7-8cc's. I go back next week for my 4th fill but won't need much. I went from aug-november without restriction..you will get there will probably take a couple more fills! PackersFan 4 Posted January 6, 2011 I have had three fills and I'm currently at 7.2 in an 11cc band. I didn't have a lot of restriction until my third fill and I still feel like I can eat way too much at mealtime. I have another Dr. appointment in two weeks and will be asking for more fill. losingitatlast 0 Posted January 6, 2011 Thanks for posting guys...it feels better to know this is "normal". Had my first fill of 4cc on 12/27...haven't really lost since then...just losing and regaining the same 2 pounds. I am exercising and eating right (although more than a cup). I feel like I could eat anything and am getting frustrated. Hopefully next fill at the end of January will help a little bit! Trying to be patient...
TamiLB 0 Posted January 6, 2011 Keep in mind that you don't really know about how much you are restricted until a week after your fill, when your tummy calms down and "unswells" after the fill. It can take several fills to get you where you need to be in order to feel restriction. Always remember to eat your Protein first, or you might not feel restricted at all. Purpleshell 4 Posted January 6, 2011 Thanks for posting this. I've just had my first fill today and I'm STARVING! I feel like I have restriction in my throat and upper chest but my stomach is growling like crazy! I've just eaten 2 bowls of Soup without too much difficulty and have stopped but I think I could eat more. My Dr. only put in 2.5 cc's. He told me at surgery that he had put in 2cc, so I'm guessing I'm at 4.5 now. I have no idea what size band I have, I forgot to ask. He also told me that he likes to "fill" slowly and that I might not notice too much difference until the 3rd fill. I hope I lose this month though. I've stagnated for the last 2 weeks and want to see those numbers on the scale go down again!! lol
honk 780 Posted January 6, 2011 Purple shell, my recommendation for post fill diet is to have 1 cup of Tomato, low fat cream chicken etc soup; and then a Protein shake an hour or so later. Your body needs Protein and a liquid Soup is only giving you carbs and no protein. After a fill I try to space out my soup and Protein Shake so that I "eat" every couple hours. If you have your soup then Protein Shake right away; it goes through the band and you have another 5 hours before you get to eat again. After my last fill I lost 5 pounds (in a week) then when I went back to solids gained 3. This week I have been doing solids 2 mealsa day and then liquids for dinner. I'm hoping this will jump start my loss; but that my body won't panic because it is getting 2 reg. meals a day.
Purpleshell 4 Posted January 6, 2011 Thanks for this honk. I will try it as I am quite hungry. Why do you have to wait 5 hours before you can eat again? My Dr. hasn't told me anything like this. All he said was liquids for 48 hours
