My doctor put me on two childrens chewables and 2000 mg of Calcium carbonate (4 - tums or 2 - ultra tums) a day. i make sure i get my recommended amount of Protein - minimum 60 grams, for my energy and it also helps keep from losing hair. Good luck. just remember every doctor is different on their requirements. :D

I take 1 Centrum chewable Vitamin Plus Minerals (need the iron) and 2 Viactive calcium chews with Vitamin D daily. I just had all of my levels tested and everything was great except my Vitamin D was a little low. I will admit, sometime I forget to take that 2nd Calcium Chew. I must be better at that! I didn't start exercising until about 3 months after my surgery, wish i had started earlier, it made a huge difference in my weight loss. I would think you could exercise moderately up until 6 weeks, than you should be able to do anything. Good Luck!B)

I take a CVS adult Gummy Vitamin, 2x the daily dosage. I also take the Viactiv calcium chews, and Vitamin D supplement because mine was low when tested. I found a little teeny gel capsule vitamin D that goes down no problem, also a CVS.

I have been walking on a treadmill. When I started, doing anything was hard, and today I walked 2.5 miles! My only exercise goal is to do a little bit more today than yesterday. More than the weight loss, I am seeing a difference in my clothes. My jeans are just about to fall off my butt. I will put on my sweats and laugh myself to the clothing store the day they won't stay on me!

Yes, I would advise asking your surgeon or your PCP what Vitamins and Calcium you should be taking.

Most, but not all, bariatric surgeons have their patients taking calcium citrate not carbonate because Citrate is more easily absorbed without the presence of food. My doctors want me to have a minimum of 1500 mg of Calcium a day.

I take Adult Centrum chewables (multi-vitamin), either Bariatric Advantage chewable calcium citrate or Citrical Petites (when I run out of the chewables and I'm not due back in for another appt anytime soon), Biotin (for hair, skin & nails), Vit. D, and a few other supplements for my particular issues. The amounts and dosages of Vitamins should be determined by your health care professional.

There are several companies specializing in bariatric vitamins: Bariatric Advantage, Celebrate, Building Blocks, fusion, just to name a few. Look their sites up on the web and email to ask for samples. Most of them will send you some so you can see if you can tolerate their product before buying.

Hope this helps

Doctor sometimes knows best or at least what they want you to do. Mine had me take a high potency Vitamin twice a day, Vit D and B1 once a day (B1 for 6-8 months post op). I could not stand the taste of the chewable so I started with bariatric Advantage's powder multi vit. it is gritty, but no after taste. Caveat: you have to take it three times a day and it has no Iron in it so I have to supplement my Iron too and I mix it in with my Water allotment.

My labs have been great since I started to take the iron supplement. I think the brand and type is a very individual thing.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
