Just a quick question!

When do you really start to feel better! I feel like I have my good days, but some days I just feel so BLAH!

I eat a bit, but not alot, cause I am hardly ever hungry. I get dizzy, maybe cause I am not getting enough in! But I can't force myself to eat if I am not hungry.

I am back to work this week. And I feel some what energetic, but come this time of day I am completely exhausted. (i work 8-4 and by 2 pm I am wiped out).

I work as a Case Manager with adults with special needs.

I feel bloated, and dizzy, and if i eat another bite I will be sick.

I just feel like since surgery I have not been the same! And I had surgery 4 weeks ago. Figured I would bounce back quicker than this!!!

Some input would be helpful at this point. I began taking Vitamins and benefiber chewables also to help with the flow of things!

Just feeling UGGHHH.

Thanks,

On Thursday I will be 4 weeks post op. I never had serious pain... just discomfort after surgery. It took me about 2 weeks to feel normal.

I am struggling with getting enough calories in.... but I noticed that this week I have more of an appetite which considering I go for my first fill next week is most likely a good thing!

From what you wrote it sounds like you have the flu or maybe you arent getting enough calories.... but I would contact your Dr if I were you just to double check to see if there isnt any more to it.

Best of luck!

Mandy - I am only a week out from being banded myself, but are you getting enough liquids in during the day? You want to make sure you are keeping yourself hydrated. Also you say you are not hungry and not eating much, have you had an adjustment yet? If you have not tried one yet, try working in a Protein drink like Myoplex Lite to get in some Protein. It sounds like you might not be getting enough protein in your diet. If you have not already started, keep a food diary of what you are eating and how you feel so you can discuss this with your Dr.

Be well,

eko

I went back to work a week and a half after my surgery. I didn't start to feel normal again, as far as energy, until about 4 weeks post op. Drink plenty of Water, and get 60-80 grams of Protein each day. That should help. But if you go much longer feeling this way, you may want to touch base with your Dr.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Kat

No food equals feeling like crap. You may not be hungry but if you want to heal and feel well you better start eating something. If your bloated its because your empty. Drink your shakes if you dont want to eat and push the fluids. You better do it before you feel worse than ugh. Just sayin

Yesterday I ate my Breakfast, then had a shake for snack, then lunch, and didn't eat again til dinner! I felt good yesterday! I am drinking about 32 oz of Water a day. Not to include my 8 oz shake inbetween the day! I started the Vitamins and benefiber and my Calcium. I had a good day yesterday! I will try again to eat like I did yesterday and see how I feel!

I have NO Fluid in my band and have alot of restricition. I take few bites and I am full.

Thank you all for your responses.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
