Banded 8 days ago and have a "lump" in my throat

Recommended Posts

I was banded Dec 27 and all went well. I'm pretty much over my soreness and back to my regular rountine. I am pretty exhausted after work but other than that, things have been good. Until this weekend. For the past several days, I've felt as though I have a lump in my throat. It comes and goes and I have no idea what is causing it. I am still on a all liquid diet so noting is stuck. Any ideas?

me too..its weird but it does go away...I heard different theories....one of them is stress..the other one is that your stomach is sored and touches a nerve that sends a signal to your brain which sends another signal to your throat..pretty much making it think that you over ateits annoying but will go away

I've got it too, 3 weeks post op. It does come and go, but seems to be more prevalent during the morning hours. It's odd, can't put my finger on it...

During surgery they put a tube down your throat. This is what is probably causing this feeling. I had it after my surgery and it was so annoying. I would wake up in the middle of the night from it, would lose my voice because of it during class while teaching etc. I called my doc and went to see him right away because it was freaking me out. He explained it was common and happens because of the tube.

Here is my experience

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
