Where do YOU feel full??

Recommended Posts

It's so weird to miss the feeling of the fullness and stretching in the lower belly. I can't count the number of times that I complained that my stomach HURT because I had overeaten so much that I was miserable. Why would I miss that? I agree that it's just habit, comfort, and how things always were. But not anymore. Eating to live instead of living to eat is so challenging for those of us here. I truly love the taste of some foods and just want to taste more of it and keep eating when I'm full. The band is definately helping me with that. Fortunately, I haven't vomited since being banded and I really don't want to. I have had pain in my lower chest (upper stomach) area though from eating too much or too fast. My concern is that this is my pouch stretching too far at this point. I've also had a hiccup at the last bite. I haven't noticed a runny nose (that is an interesting sign). That's one reason I started this topic was also to see if there are signs that others have (soft signs) that I may have missed as a sign for myself. Replies are always appreciated and helpful. Thanks.

Lately I've been getting a headache...maybe that's from beginning my "all" food. I will get burps when I am full and shouldn't eat more. Just have to remind myself I'm uncomfortable because I'm full not because I'm still hungry! And it is good to step back and ask yourself.."have you eaten what you should?" then you shouldn't be hungry right now.

I haven't burped since surgery, lol.

BUT, this headache thing, OMG I thought my bf was going to have to take me to the hospital last night. It was brutal. Stabbing pain and it seriously probably took over an hour to go away. I thought I ate too much, but maybe I ate too fast?? I've only been on 'real' foods for a little over a week. I didn't have anything crazy, 4 little chicken tenders and some cheese. Didn't drink either. I'm glad I'm not alone....even though it's a crap side effect.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
