First let me say, I love my band, although I only seem to post when it's giving me a problem....so far 150 pounds down and another 70 to go!!!!

Here's the problem:

This morning, super early I woke up thirsty and took a big gulp of Water without even thinking. Stupid, I know. Anyway the Water went down...eventually, but I think I've irritated my band. I can get fluids down, I haven't and won't try anything else today, but I have a fair amount of pain radiating from my stomach. Not just that, but it takes a few second for the water to pass. I'm fairly certain that I'm being paranoid here, but I'm just wondering if anyone else would be concerned? Is it possible the band slipped or have I just irritated it and I need to give it a few days? It was just water, but this seems like a crazy reaction to water, but it was first thing in the morning before I'd even woken up. As a side note, my band can't tolerate anything in the morning and for Breakfast, I tend to just sip on a glass of milk.

Thanks for the advice.

Sounds like you may be slightly irritated and need a rest. I would try protien shakes for today- you want to get some nutrition. Hope you feel better soon.

This has also happened to me multiple times. The irritation will go away after a day or so of liquids and mushies. I also have used aloe vera juice to help the inflamation. sugar free popcicles help the swelling also. Call your doc. just to be sure.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
