If there were things you would find helpful ....

I wish there was one universal lap band regiment that ALL surgeons and nutritionists used. It seems like each of our surgeons and nutritionists require different calorie, fat, and carb intakes. Some allow Soups, some don't. Some allow red meat, some don't. It makes it hard to know what is right and what is wrong.

I think what would help me most is to watch a fellow bandster who has been successful eat a meal. What do they eat, how do they portion it out, cut it up, chew it etc...basically...I think that might bevery weird. Anyone who's lost 75% or more of their weight want to video that for me and YouTube it?

I have to committ myself again to be sucessful. I have no idea the amount of daily Protein needed. All this gram crap I dont understand so is One two or 3 shakes ????

If there were things you would find helpful during your Lap Band Journey, to make your life easier what would it be and why?

It could be anything! A specific meal outline, a LapBand friendly gym, ANYTHING!! Lets Hear it!:D

I think I would have liked to have known at the beginning that my food intake wasn't going to change overnight. I didn't know that it takes several fills to get to the special fill point that allows us to eat only 1/2 cup. I'm 3 months post op and can still eat more than 1/2 cup. It's a slower process than I expected, but you learn to appreciate the losses and know that it will happen - eventually.

When I was shopping for the food I was going to be eating after surgery like liquids and mushies I wish someone would have reminded me that I was going to be eating way less of those foods. I bought boxes and boxes of things like baby Cereal that I would never eat now and ate only a tiny, tiny bit right after surgery. Some times they help in a pinch after a fill but most of that food I will not use. Also be prepared for your taste buds to totally change. Basically don't store weeks of food up for you to eat after surgery because you are going to eat a tiny amount and you probably won't want what you picked out before.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
