I'm talking a poll!!

My surgeon said that chubby bubby's are accident prone. So, are you or were you "accident prone?" Does your mother worry more that YOU will get hurt, and not the others? Does your husband call you "Grace" even though your name is Jane? How bout it, let's hear about it! Are you clumsy?

My answer: YES

Oh boy am I ever accident prone!!! I've fallen off the front steps to my house so many times that I've actually "learned" how to fall so I don't hurt myself too badly! It's crazy!! I'm hoping once I drop a good bit of my weight that my balance will become better and I stop falling down the steps... It hurts!! LOL

I am Miss Clumsy. I was in the kitchen, alone, at my friend's house, a lot my friends were over and I fell. Everyone was like its okay its just Stacy! I think it is because we don't have a lot of muscle (if you are like me) so we have bad balance or our balance skills are lacking.

I have always been clumsy! In fact, during my colleage years, my sorority had a "purple foot" award for the person that did the dumbest/clumsiest thing during the year. I won four years in a row.

Addicent prone? I have fallen off horses (which led to an ACL knee tear and surgery), broke my tail bone (again on the horse), fell off a bar stool and tore my knee (again) fell down steps so many time I lost count, broke my small toe on my right foot 4 times (the last one last summer when I walked into the corner of the sofa), broke my small toe on my left foot two times, tore by nail off on my second toe by opening a door on it. My newhew broke my nose when we were playing "upsies"--he was a toddler and I was raising him above my head and he dropped his head and it landed on my nose (really? how does that happen), and it goes on and on....

I have been heavy all my life but I am now "just overweight". I am still clumsey. Obviously losing weight didn't help me in this regard. (but it helped me in many other areas!)

Okay ... noooo ... I have never heard of "chubby bubbys" being accident prone and noooo I am not accident prone. The last time I broke a bone I was 5 years old ... that was 50 YEARS AGO. I suppose if you count falling while snow skiing, I have taken a tumble or two, but that was 20 years ago and about 100 lbs lighter than when I got my band. LOL

Seems crazy to lump overweight people into such a group. Hmmmmm. Doesn't seem productive for a doctor to mention it .. but ... hey ... I may be totally missing your doctor's point.

I have a number of friends that are overweight (birds of a feather ... etc.) and none of them are particularly clumsy or accident prone.

Interesting post/poll though.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
