JJLaw08 4 Posted January 4, 2011 I no longer eat bread, and I don't miss it. I did take a small bite of cornbread the other day on New Year's, but most of the time I don't bother. Everything else I haven't had too much issues with.
Linnielady 4 Posted January 4, 2011 One of my very favorite food is meatballs, take some mushroom Soup, breadcrumbs, egg, and hamburger. They are mega band friendly, and I eat them for Breakfast too.....naver have been an egg or Cereal girl. I like to make casseroles, stews, Soups, tacos, anything as long as it is balanced. I just eat sooo much less now than before and I exercise for at least 30-60 minutes everyday! As far as bread, I use sandwhich thins(multi-grain)....and Pasta I can't eat in front of the T.V. because I have to focus on chewing all the Pasta up or I'm like a mama bird regurgitating to her fledgling...hahahahhahaha If I pb my dog looks longingly at me (I bet she would just love it)! You know dogs always eat their barf anyway! If anyone wants my mushroom meatball recipe just respond to this and let me know, you will not be disapointed! I did so enjoy this thread....night peeps! WAH.MOM 0 Posted January 7, 2011 I have been banded since September 14th, 2010 and have lost 35.5 pounds. I have been filled once and since the fill I can not eat bread or hashbrowns; my doctor told me that forms a plug and gets stuck. I can not eat raw broccoli, but if it is in small pieces I can eat it cooked. I can eat pizza, but only 1 piece versus the 4 or 5 I used to eat. If I go out to eat, I cut my steak in half, eat mashed potatoes with it, as I can not do fries either, same problem as hashbrowns. If I have a casserole I measure a cup and keep it at that portion. So I have to make sure my meat is moist or chew it very very good. Steak is my favorite when dinning out; so that has been no problem for me. However, no matter what I eat, I can not drink anything until about 30 - 60 minutes later or it will all come back up. Unless it is small sips of Water. Wonder if anyone else has that issue? Chasnlucky 0 Posted January 8, 2011 I am very tight so I avoid bread, rice, Pasta, and all kinds of snack. (can't do crackers or pretzels) Also, I can't eat eggs. Don't know why but I am guaranteed to puke if I try. Some days, things go down well, other days I am guaranteed to be sick. For me, this is like being on a roller coaster but I keep trying. I enjoy soups--hearty Soups like those on http://www.bariatric...ion/recipes.php I love her recipes and the Caribbean Sausage Soup is the bomb!! I have made that every week for the past month! Also, I enjoy the split pea and again have made that one a week for the past month. Lastly, I have cookbooks like "Eating Well after Weight Loss Surgery". Most of the food in the book is very moist so it goes down well. I haven't been banded very long but the one food I've found so far that I CANNOT eat are eggs also.....and it makes me so sad....I love, love, love eggs....but every time I try, they get stuck and I end up sliming and puking...and that's without a fill!! Southern Leo 0 Posted January 8, 2011 Thanks so much for posting the recipe!! I was checking if someone asked for it before I did today! Sounds great and I like your idea of having them for breakfast! I've been looking for something good for Breakfast besides eggs! Mushroom meatballs 1 can mushroom soup 1/2 c. Water 1 lb. ground beef,or lamb 3/4 C. dry bread crumbs 1 egg slightly beaten 2 tbs. minced onion, and dried parsley Mix Soup and Water, pour 1/4 cup with the ground meat, add bread crumbs, onion, parsley and egg. Karlzmom 1 Posted January 8, 2011 My favorite "go to" food is the pulled pork from costco, that I add a low carb BBQ Sauce [or chutney, or salsa, or whatever else strikes my fancy!]. I am never without it in the fridge, ready to go. I also like thin sliced deli meat with a bit of hummus. Haven't tried Pasta or rice. Never really cared Pasta, so why teach myself to eat it again, KWIM? I kind of miss rice, but again don't really want to try. I refuse to try pizza, as if I figured out I could eat it, I'd be right back to square one
Laylas grandma 2 Posted January 9, 2011 Thanks for the recipe Kelly..Cant wait to try it..You and I started out about the same time at about the same size..You are passing me though....LOL
kstartaylor 0 Posted January 9, 2011 I can eat pretty much anything. I do avoid plain rice - got stuck really bad with that. I do eat the rice that comes with Q-Doba in a naked burrito. I do eat bread but not very much or often. If we go to a sandwich shop I will eat a little of the whole sandwich but then end up pulling out the meat and cheese. We also have a mexican restaurant that we go to every week. I get the carnitas burrito and pretty much just eat the carnitas inside. I really try to eat the Protein first in my meals and then if I still have room I will eat a little of everything else. My family was amazed by my thanksgiving and christmas plates. Compared to all of them, I looked like a bird. Also it takes me a lot longer to eat my meal. For Breakfast I have yogurt and granola or Kashi go lean Cereal (only after a cup of coffee to loosen things up). For lunch, I usually go out but always have left overs. dinner is just whatever the family is eating. Tonight was pizza - had one slice. I used to be able to eat 4. Sometimes in the afternoon I have a couple pieces of cheese with crackers.
topazz 4 Posted January 9, 2011 I too eat a lot of meatballs too. I like to eat cut up chicken with some hot sauce and a little light blue cheese dressing. Sometimes I eat it plain, mix it with a little rice, or eat on a fat free tortilla wrap. I eat those often when i want a type of bread. I use ground turkey to make meatballs, taco meat and chili as well. I also make a lot of Soups too. When I make a shake I use the SF CIB with some Peanut Butter and a banana. I like to eat chobani yogurt mixed with a packet of oatmeal. Those cottage cheese doubles work well for me too. Sometimes I take some fat free saltines and melt sonme cheese on them as well. I am always trying to find new things!!

HeatherinCA 10 Posted January 12, 2011 I haven't had any problems with any food, but I've been avoiding steak, almost all sweets like cake/cookies, bready-breads (I still do crackers and I can do one piece of toast, overall it's just not worth eating usually). Oddly enough I'm not that big on variety at home so I kinda eat the same things daily. Breakfast egg beaters with salsa and low fat cheese, 1 piece whole wheat toast lunch chicken salad with Water crackers dinner ground turkey with marinara and mozzarella then I usually have a bowl of oatmeal sometime during the day. When I'm out I watch calories closely if I can. You'd be surprised what is in restaurant food. If they have a nutrition guide, look at it. I went to CPK last night, a salad has 1600 calories.
