I am about to begin my new journey in a few short weeks. My surgery date is scheduled for Jan 31st. I start my pre-op diet on Jan 12th. I want to know what products/food I should stock up on to help me succeed in these first few weeks. Thanks!

Hi Kelly,

Good luck on your new venture. I just had my surgery on Jan. 7th. I am feeling good. Really excited about my new journey. Week one is down. All I could have this week was lots of Water, broth, sugar-free Jello and sugar-free popsicles. I thought it would be hard, but it really wasn't. Now on week two... I have the same options but I've added a Protein drink. I use Medifast because it's so high in Protein whcih is my goal for this week.

I didn't experience a lot of soreness so I don't know if I just came through it well, or if this is the norm. I am really excited about my future. I hope the next few weeks fly by so that I can experience my first fill. I've lot 7 lbs. in the first week and I think that is good. Let's see how next week goes.

If you need a friend to chat with, just contact me. I also am from NC.

Good luck,

Donna

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
