Well I had my first one on the 30th a year after surgery yep a whole year. The needle wasnt the issue with me but I could feel the band tightening around my stomach oddly enough. That wasnt pleasant. Its over in minutes he put four in and took two out. They make you swallow Water after the fill and when you can swallow it with no problem then that is your fill point. Do not and I repeat do not leave that office until you know that you can swallow. And it also helps if you dont eat a big meal about 12 hours before a fill and I didnt eat the morning of. I didnt know what to expect so I was just cautious.

I was banded on 11\4\10 I had a fill about three or four weeks after and it was NOT fun! but I am a wimp! Since , they have given me this RX for a numbing cream and I put it on about an hour or so before I am to go in for a fill. IT TOTALLY HELPS~! I have had to go in to the after hours clinic on my last fill becasue I could not swollow my own spit! it was TERRIBLE!!! I was fine all day prior to that night tho! BAD STUFF! The second he took a bit out I had comfort! So, now I am sitting at a 22 pound weight loss and feel stuck! I see and hear about all these people who lose so fast and have such great results....I am slowly going in the right direction, but want so musch to be at my goal..ALOT FASTER!!! I know everythng happens in its own time though and I do not wish to be a bunch of saggy skin and yuck! Hopefully this slow pace will allow my skin to bounce back ! I have another 50 pounds to go before I meet my goal.....HOw ARE YOU DOING?

Whats a first fill like?

I was banded 11/17/10 and had my first fill 12/28/10. I was a walk in the park. I felt a small prick like when you get blood work then nothing. He put in 4cc, had me drink Water and sit there for 20 minutes. I was fine and I have little restriction but hopefully my next one will be more which is on 1/26/11. Good luck to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
