I am just about 4 months out from surgery and still feel like there is so much to learn & remember it's overwhelming. Most days I feel like this will never all come togeether. If you remembered nothing else about your new banded lifestyle what would be your top 3 things that are a must that you swear by to be successful? Perhaps if I master a few things at a time and just keep adding on.

1.) Water, Water, Water

2.) Exercise

3.) If you have a bad day/week, just keep on going, don't beat yourself up... keep on keeping on. The weight WILL come off!

1. Exercise

2. Get your Protein in!!!

3. Stay positive - even when you fall off the wagon! Don't let the 'fat person' that may still be in your head begin to talk you down... for me anyway, that's my biggest issue!

Good luck!!!

1) Learn to stop eating one bite before your full signal

2) chew food completly

3) life does not revolve around my band or food

4) don't make it harder than it needs to be

1. Eat to live not live to eat

2. Try as many different healthy foods you can to be successful the same old thing everyday is a sure set up for failure

3. Know that we all got obese because of bad habits and food choices and we didnt go through all this to be fat ever again.

Listen to your stomach, ask youself if you are hungry

Eat slowly, and pay attention to WHAT goes in your mouth

Water

I know what you mean! But I'm figuring out it's pretty much just eat LESS and slowly, drink lots of Water (but not b4 or after meals), exercise, eat mostly Protein, watch what goes in your body. Some of the rules seem so nitpicky I don't feel everything in this 50 page book I have from my surgeon needs to be remembered daily. The biggest change for me is just noticing what goes in. Before I'd mindlessly eat, and I was never "hungry". Now I know when I'm hungry, and what I'm eating.

1) Serious exercise

2) FInd a few diet/band meals that you truly enjoy and look forward to. No need to suffer.

3) Don't cheat with some chips and a cookie. Don't cheat at all, but if you're going to lapse, eat something great at least.

1. listen to your doctor. he's there to help you succeed. yes, people here are supportive but only your doctor can tell you what's right for you and your body!

2. don't stop eating all the foods you love. give yourself treats occasionally otherwise you'll end up binging.

3. don't beat yourself up if you give in to temptation. just get back on track the next day! you didn't gain the weight over night so you won't lose it over night either!

Pretty much in agreemant with everyone, except you should journal, everything that goes into your mouth.....google calories per day to loose weight, there is a calculator.....mine said 2000, but I easily do between 1200-1500 per day but I also walk/jog between 30 min. and an hour every single day, I also focus on protien, and drink a ton of water.........hope this helps!

Please journal, once you get in the habit....wait let me tell you what I do.....I write down what I ate, when I finished, how many grams of protien, and how many calories....I know Vitamins are important, so I have a place where I put a check as soon as i take them, then I have another place where I put how many minutes I got up and moved my ass....btw there are several calculators that let you know how many calories you burned by walking so many minutes.....but as I have said before and was told to me by the guru(ha ha Indiogirl) Bank your damn exercise calories burned....just pretend they never happened/////I gaurantee this will work..Oh Yeah, you will hit plateaus, cause that happens to me all the time...but trust me this will work...Example I will loose 4 or 5 pounds all of a sudden, then nothing for 10 days or more...don't give UP! Just keep following the rules, and the weight will come off!

Hope this helped:)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
