Bandsters in Dallas?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was banded on 12/21 and is there anybody out there from Dallas? I would like to know other Bandsters in my community. Its going well so far and I have lost well. Only complaint is lack of energy. This is a great present to myself and I hope to do it justice.

Happy New Year!

Hi Vanessa and welcome to the start of your new life!!

I don't know about Dallas bandsters on this site, I pretty much stay on the post-op section, but there's a yahoo group called DFWBandsters at:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/DFWBandsters

I'm a member there even though I'm not technically IN Dallas.. I'm 2 hours (or more, depending on traffic..hehe) east.

There's also a Texas Association for Bariatric Surgery conference coming up soon in Dallas..my doc and a lot of his staff are going and are encouraging patients to attend. I've registered, but still haven't 100% decided to go.

http://www.txtabs.org/index.html (scroll down for the links about the conference).

Again, welcome to bandlandia.

Hi Vanessa! I was banded on 4/1/10 and I am also from Dallas. Don't worry about the lack of energy right now, I seemed to start feeling like I had more energy as I got closer to the 30-40 pounds lost mark. And some days still I have no energy but now it seems more to be connected to what I am eating (junk or stuff thats good for me) and if I exercise. Good luck on your journey!

Hi Jordyn,

Thanks for the encouragement. I am hoping to lose 50 pounds by Memorial Day Weekend. My best friend is getting married, I'm a bridesmaid, and I want to look at the pictures without wincing. I think that I can do it. I will sure try. I am not ready to start actual exercising. I was going to start after my first fill. But I have been taking my dog for half an hour walks around the neighborhood.

Which part of Dallas? I live in East Dallas. Have a nice day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
