sandi55 0 Posted January 1, 2011 Hi, I am new on this forum so not sure what I'm doing yet. Well... I have been thinking on the lap band. Now that they lowerd the BMI. I am between 33 and 35. Not real sure. I do have high blood pressure, but my concern is I'm 55, but otherwise in good health. I've struggled with weight all my life, but it's worse now that I'm older. I'm just wondering how everyone did with this surgery, lots of questions. I have a consult meeting this month in Erie Pa. Thanks! Happy New Year!
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted January 1, 2011 You wont regret it. It takes much practice to get the eating down right but you will be fine. I was 46 when I had mine done a year ago. I dont regret it one bit. Save your life or continue to have more problems. I chose surgery because I had high blood pressure, chronic back pain, and on 5 meds for my stomach. All is gone and Im happy.
atgoalgal 0 Posted January 1, 2011 I was lap banded back in 2006. It was the best decision I ever made for my health. That being said this is not a magic bullet. The lap band is a great tool, but you have to work it. I just publlished a book, available on Amazon titled "Is Lap Band Surgery for Me?' You may want to get a copy. It can be great pre-work for your doctor's visit. Here's a link to amazon http://www.amazon.com/Surgery-Step-Step-Lasting-Weight/dp/1604944943/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top. Let me know if it helps.
