SWEETGRACE 1 Posted January 1, 2011 Hello, I am 3 days post surgery and I am very excited. I have very little pain with the exception of gas. The gas pain is very irritating. I have been walking and moving but with little relief. It was encouraging to read posts that state the gas doesn't last forever. I lost 13 pounds on the liver shrinking diet I had to do 10 days before surgery and I am very excited about losing more. I am surprised that I haven't lost any more after surgery on the liquid diet, I guess that's because my body is in starvation mode. I've only eaten about 1 1/2 cups of broth and 1/2 cup of sugar free Jello each day. It is the very first time I can ever remember NOT feeling hungry or wanting to eat. I even still have Christmas Cookies, candiy etc. from neighbors at my house and I am just not interested in any of it. For me this is a whole new experience. I feel a little lost because I am not sure what to do with all of my time. I really spent alot of time sneaking food so my kids and husband wouldn't see me eat it. I guess I'll have to find a new hobby :-)

I guess I'll have to find a new hobby :-) Congratulations on your accomplishments so far! It's so exciting to read of how well you are doing!! I am going to be attending the information day on the 13th so I'm hoping that my surgery won't be too far out. During the liver shrinking time, did you try any of the Protein Drinks or just fill up with other stuff. I have tried looking through my cabinets and I'm not sure I even know of enough liquid products to get me through that time period. Did you get creative? Were you creative in trying to fill the food cravings? I am a quilter and I design quilt patterns too, so I already know that I will fill my days with sewing and designing. I wish you a very Happy New Year!! God bless, Jaleena
BigRueb22 0 Posted January 1, 2011 Grace, 2 Days strong here after lapband! I'm still in pain with all the gas. When I got out of recovery I couldn't sleep for that night until I got home and slept for 4 hrs. I ate a small sugar free Jello on day 2 and it took three different times to finish it. I'm so excited! Pre-Op I was 510, 2 days later I'm 499, I'll take them 11lbs anyday! I'm so excited! I wish you the best in 2011. Now you have more time with the kids, husband and more time to read and educate the mind.
Strike Up the Band 0 Posted January 1, 2011 Hi . . . I am also 3 days out of surgery and the only annoying thing is the gas. I seem to have a spasm in my chest from time to time like I need to burp, but nothing comes up. It's a little scary. I hope that's all it is. Anyway, I haven't stepped onto the scale yet. Too afraid yet. My spirits were in the dumps yesterday, but much better today. The hold that food had on my mind leaves me also at a loss of what to do with my time. I guess I'll go back to knitting. I'm excited about the future too.
Chasnlucky 0 Posted January 2, 2011 Hiya....I am about 4 days post band and I pretty amazed as well with how little I am missing food. I do crave a little flavor in my food after a 2 week liquid diet pre-op and now four days of liquids post. Not really that I am hungry, just that I am really really bored with Protein Shakes, Jello, and broth!! I did pick up a scale today at the store and was pleasantly surprised to see I've lost 3 pounds since day of surgery!! Yay me! I also have the weird hiccups sometimes....it's only 3 or 4 at a time but they are quite painful with the incisions still being sore. I've never had hiccup so often so it seems very weird to me. I did have a hiatal hernia repair that they found during the lapbanding surgery, so maybe the hiccup are tied to that repair. anyway....congratz to all you!!
