JerseyGirl80 12 Posted December 31, 2010 The gas will pass, just keep walking around as much as you can. My Doctor suggested taking Gas-X strips which helped. The pain in your back and shoulder is most likely trapped gas. I had horrible pain in the center of my back as soon as I woke from anesthesia, it was the gas. I had these pains for the first 5 days after surgery, it was moving around my body trying to find a way out. You just gotta keep moving and let it out. mom24teens 0 Posted December 31, 2010 I'm 3 days post-op and the gas is constantly rumbling! At first I could only burp it out but after getting moving a little more I was able to pass it both ways. I think this is probably pretty common and nothing really to get alarmed about. Fortunately I haven't had any of the trapped gas pains in the back/shoulders like I heard so much about. When is your post-op follow up with your surgeon? You could just keep some notes and address all your concerns at that appointment.
cstinnette 0 Posted December 31, 2010 I am two days post op and have terrible left shoulder pain and back pain. I've been burping and today was able to "poot" for lack of a better term! I have had two c-sections and honestly did not anticipate this surgery to be as painful, I had a diaphragmeatic herina repaired at the same time I was banded...it's been a rough couple of days...do you think the back pain is gas as well?
