Recommended Posts

I am finally on the other side. I was banded yesterday. I feeling pretty good right now just a sore. But walking around is helping out a lot with the gas pains. No meds just trying to stick out the pain. I hope everything got baned this week is doing good.

Good morning -

I was banded Wednesday. I am feeling full when I am sipping on Water. Tried to sip some yesterday but felt like it was all in my throat. Am also having trouble sleeping - cant get comfortable. I am a side sleeper and am having trouble laying on my side. I also feel the band from the outside of my chest - is that normal???? I am not having to take amy pain meds - dont like the way they make me feel - but havent been that uncomfortable.

I was banded on the 29th and stayed in the hospital until last night. The pain gets better when I walk around but as soon sit or lay down its hard to start all over again. I am feeling hunger pains and a lot of rummbling in my stomach. feels like some acid reflux is coming up my throat. I am eating Jello and home-made chicken broth. I just need for this week to be over so that I can feel better.

I was also banded yesterday. How long did your surgery take? I went at 1200 and came out at 400. Two hour surgery turned into 4 hours. I did get a liver biopy maybe that adds time. Is your mouth dry. I have been having chicken broth, apple sauce, and Jello deserts. The pain has not been to bad.

Walking has eased some of the gas pains. I only feel a small amount of soreness around my port site, other than that I hope today is wonderful!!! I'm about ready for something besides broth and popsicles!! :D

I am doing better today 1/1/11 - I arrived at the hospital at 6:00am and was released at 11:30am. Got home and have really rested since. I had gas pains until yesterday but took GasX for it and it seemed to help. I am feeling better and able to sip a bit more today. Make sure you take your vitalins - that helps tremendously as far as getting your strength back. My mouth was dry for a bout a day or so but I thought about the tube that went down my throat contributing to that.

I was banded Tuesday. I have been doing a lot of walking everyday starting on Tuesday when I was doing laps around the hospital ward. Today I did about 1.5 miles.

I take the pains meds which is just liquid tylenol now and the pain is fine. First couple days it just felt like someone punched me in the stomach. It was never too bad.

The gas sucks. Its not painful but it gasx does nothing and it constantly rumbles and occasionally escapes.

I was rather uncomfortable at the NYE party last night as it was not exactly a place where gas release was entirely appropriate. I did step out a few times to attempt relief but with little affect.

Feeling much better today though.

Happy 2011 to Everyone here !! :)

Hi! I was banded on Monday, the 27th, it does get better, although it still hurts to laugh - go figure. Don't live with any pain you can prevent with liquid Tylenol, it is easier to heal when you don't hurt. Sounds like our Dr.'s all do the post-op diet a little different. This week I have been a full liquid diet, essentially anything I can get through a straw which includes skim milk, strained creamed Soups, and Protein Shakes, sugar-free hot chocolate, and other calories free liquids (no diet soda). I see my surgeon on Monday to see what's next. I hope that all of you have uneventful recoveries and much success in the new year!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
