Lost my way

Recommended Posts

I've lost my way and have no support. I've had the band nearly 3 years... did great year 1 & 2 - losing 70 lbs. This past year has been a weight gain of 20. My doctors have all left the practice and I want to find a new doctor in NJ. I have restriction but not sure it's right because I either am too hungry or throw everything up.

Does anyone have advice on how I get back on the right road? I still have 100 lbs to lose and feel horrible. I don't understand why I throw up when I eat solid foods but can eat better when i stand up. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Everytime I have a fill I have to completly change my current diet. Sometimes I eat the same thing from one day to the next - where one day it goes down and then it doesn't. I think our bodies all work different with our bands and no two of us are alike. What I have found for me is that most meats don't go down unless I'm satisfied with two baby bites, anymore and I'm stuck. This process can be frustrating at times, but it will also work!

Not that I should be giving much advice because I have rough days and struggle myself, but try going back to the basics...

3 meals a day - avoid snacking etc...

protien first (scrambled eggs with cheese or cottage cheese - yummy and don't get stuck!)

20g per meal of protien

lots of Water

no eating and drinking at the same time

work with your band. whenever I get frustrated and try to eat foods that won't go down and end pb'ing all day I get discouraged. When I follow the basics I feel healthy and proud of myself - so try doing that, you've got nothing to lose if you don't (no pun intended)

God Bless,

Rebecca

Thank you for the information in your post! I am 2 years+ and have lost 75 pounds....and have lots of issues with what I can eat! I, too, cannot eat meat unless I have only two pieces the size of a pea....I have even tried to grind it ....but anything more than two itsy bitsy pieces won't stay down, or will cause incredible pain. Every time I get a fill, I too, have to change my diet immediately.

I have learned to live on soup....I can make healthy Soups with Protein (beans), some ground meat, and ground veges....that are healthy and go down easy. Unfortunately, sometimes I get tired of a liquid diet and want REAL food.< /p>

Best wishes and thanks for sharing!

Kim

I am in the same boat with you....just about the same circumstances except that my doctor is still here. I live in Virginia, so, my doctor would not be of any help to you in Jersey. I have not had the nerve to call and make an appointment as I am embarrassed to have gotten myself in the shape I am in. I don't know whether it will help or not, but I found a site online called "5 Day Pouch Test". It was written by someone who had lapband and gained and found a way to get back on track. I am going to try it as it sounds like things were in the beginning of lapband. I wish you success on your journey back and just remember you are not alone......I am right there too struggling to get back on track.

This is not normal. If you are only able to eat a liquid diet, then you are overfilled. I was at the same point last summer. I had them take out almost 3cc so I could eat. Then I had them take out the remainder (long story) because I felt the band had failed me. My hunger came back with a vengeance. A week later they put back 6cc and the hunger almost immediately disappeared. I can eat whatever I want and however much I want...but I can go 4-5 hours between meals and that, according to my surgeon, is what we should be looking for. Not physical restriction but cessation of hunger.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
