Welcome to all family members, friends, partners, loved ones, and anybody else who is part of the village that it takes to support a person who has made the choice of a lapband. I am the partner of somebody who had the surgery about a year and a half ago - which was before we got together - and i have had to learn a whole lot about what it means to live a banded lifestyle. I am totally supportive of my partner's decision to change her life with the help of the band but i also think those of us who are with people who have a lapband may have questions, experiences, even sometimes frustrations to share -- so that's what this forum is for. Again, welcome!

I know how you feel. My primary Dr is against me having this done. I am in my 4 month of getting info. If all goes well i can have my surgery end of April. I think that my biggest barrier is my family. They think if I would just say no that I can lose weight. well like you said, they haven't walked in our shoes. my dr says that a "food Addication" is the hardest addiction to get through cuz we NEED food to live. I have said that for years and it is so nice to have someone else feel like I do. This site will be great for us to contiue on our journey

This is a decision you make for you, who else knows better than you what being overweight has caused you mentally and physically. You are choosing to do something positive in your life, to take control instead of your weight controlling you= holding you back in many aspects of living not to mention health. I read this once and it has stuck with me...once you have lost the weight, no one will remember how you did it just that you did. And oh by the way, I am a 3 1/2 year lap band person with a weight loss of 135 lbs. It is one of the best things I have ever done for myself, it will be one of the best things you have ever done for yourself too.

Arm liposuction makes firm, trim arms create a more youthful look and can provide an incentive to exercise regularly to maintain fitness. After liposuction, patients who have been self-conscious about their heavy arms often feel more comfortable wearing a range of clothing styles, and they also find that clothes tend to fit them better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
