For the ladies--bra size and what a difference

Recommended Posts

Just have to say that I have had many changes in this journey. Down from a size 26 to 16 (14 on a good day), health changes that are for the better, no joint pain, better marriage and better take on life. What I kept neglecting was my bra. Why? I didn't want to spend the money! (yes, I admit I am cheap) Before I was banded, I was a 46 G. (that's a 46 DDDD) Yes, I have always been busty. (much to my discontent but my husband's delight)

After about 4 months, I "invested" in a couple of cheap bras--wrong size of course, but I left it at that. Last Sunday, I couldn't take it anymore and got on the internet to see how to properly measure your bra size, got out the tape measure, and had my husband (again to his delight) help me figure out what the hell size I was. So, he did and I promptly told him he miscalculated. There was no way I was a 38DD. Not triple D or more. I was sure he was wrong. So off I go to Ross and Marshall's and darn if he wasn't right. I haven't been this size bra since I was in college. And I got a Bali bra at Marshall's for $9.99. Gotta love that!

So, my message here...according to many different web sites, over 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size. Are you?? Think about it, if "the girls" are properly upright and held up, it gives you a waist and you look thinner. I can attest to that. Many people have remarked on how much weight I have lost recently (not true--only about 2 pounds) but because I am properly supported, I have a waist again!

I know I am wearing the wrong size! It's starting to get really baggy in the cups and I LOVE IT!!

I plan on going for my first fitting in a few more weeks. My surgery is tomorrow morning 12/30 and I'm hoping to lose more weight before I go for a fitting.

Currently I am wearing a 42 C but it's getting sloppy :-)

I have gone from a 42F to a 38DD....

I am do happy to be smaller but sad at how aweful they look! At 42F though HUGE they were quite perky....now they look like deflated baloons :(

I do need to tell you all about the must amazing brad....its a brand callef Essential Body Wear (EBW) and they make my girls so perky and upright! Though a little pricy the bras are completely worth it! I got some cheap bras from victoria secret to get me through tull I reach goal....i cant wait to get back into some GOOD bras that actually support me!

I haven't officially measured yet but I know my bra size has changed - especially in the cups. I don't want to spend lots of money yet - I am waiting until I hit my goal, I just went to Walmart and bought sports bras to get me thru this phase.

I want perky girls!! Where can I find EBW bras?

Also, while we are talking undies, does anyone wear body wear similar to Spankz? I have a cami that is similar and I love wearing it, but have heard it may not be a good idea. Seems to make your muscles weak. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I personally love Cacique from Lane Bryant (I am still too big for VS bras). Right now they have a buy 2 get 2 free sale going on. The price is comparable to VS and they will measure you in the store for the right fit! VS will measure you, too.

I am looking forward to bra shopping. My first non-scale victory was my 44DD getting to big. Now I am comfortably in a 42DD, but I know I need to get measured again.

Good topic, btw!

Best of luck to everyone!

Oh how I would love to buy a bra for under $10. My sister in law used to tease me because she could get her's on the clearance rack at Walmart for $5 and I was spending $45 at VS. I'm now a 36D from a 38DD. Just wish that they weren't "deflating" and heading south a little. I want them to perk up

I too must admit that I REALLY need to get a proper measurement and invest in a few new bras. If I raise my arms too far, the girls tend to want to peek out of the bottom of my bra. How pathetic is that?! :P

I went from a 48 DD to a 44 C I worked for a bra company for a while for women who had mastectomies and it is true most women do not know how to measure themselves for a good fit. The way to measure for a correct fit is: Take a tape measure and measure under the breast all the way around. This is your band size. To get the cup size you want to measure your breast in the middle all the way around and subtract your band size from the cup size. Say your measure 46 inches around under your breast and 48 inches across your breast you subtract the 46 from the 48 and you will get 2 these numbers are equivalent to the cup sizes:

1” / A

2” / B

3” / C

4” / D

5” / DD

You should always be able to wear your bra in the middle if its the first hook you need to go up a size if its the last hook you need to go down a size. If you go down in the band size you must go up in the cup size for instance if you are a 48 B and need to go down to a 46 you would go up to a C cup. Hope this helps. Some measure differntly but this is a common equation when measuring for a bra.:D

I'm looking forward to seeing my boobies again. They have been so masked by the fat that they melded into my stomach which is the counterbalance to my butt. I was just looking at photos from 2003 today thinking. Wow! You gotta a nice rack tongue.gif

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
