Hey! I am 21! I got banded Nov 23rd this year. I understand how radical of a decision it was, considering how young we are. But I wanted to do it soon because I still want to be young enough to enjoy the benefits of it!

Love, Stacy

Me! I just turned 24 in Nov and I was banded on December 20th. I'm glad I did it now too since I'm so young I'm hoping I can lose fast and enjoy being thin and healthy in my 20's!

I am 27, does that count?!

Is anyone out there around my age? I am 20. I have yet to find someone my age or even close to it who has been banded!

25 banded 12/15...wanted to make sure I would see 35 and at the rate I was going it wasn't gonna happen. Anyone else get some flack for our age and our choice? I feel like the reflex reaction I get is "but your so young" and I keep saying back "yes but I had this and that and this..." just wonderin...

I am 29, got banded on the 6th of Dec. Happy about my decision.....Good luck on your journey!

Question for you though! all of you who are in your 20's.

Was the dr uneasy or doubtful about doin surgery on you because you are "SO YOUNG"?

When I first arrived for my initial intake appointment...the intake dr told me I was really young and most people who come through the door are the older mid life people who have just had enough!!!!

I told him I don't want to wait until I am 50 years old to do what I need to do for a better and healthier life! I am young enough that I could still add years on to my life and I can exercise and get fit before I am 50!!!! Such Bologna!!!

I lost a lot of weight by myself in high school, by starving myself and working out for hours everyday. I wanted to be pretty like my friends. I became anorexic and had no self-confidence. That changed when I went college. I realized that the new friends I made only liked me for how I looked now, not for who I was really. I gained all the weight back. I have changed a lot since then, stayed close friends with my true friends and made friends who really care about me.

Sorry my computer goofed. I really love myself now and I want my outside to reflect my inside. I wanted to do it young because I want to enjoy the benefits of being young without be judged by weight, not that I care very much what others think about me. My whole family is overweight, I don't want to go through what they do go through. I want to set a good example for nephew, when no one did that for me, well at least not with healthy habits.

Love,

Stacy

My doctor was really easy going about me having mine done. I don't understand why some doctors want you to wait until you're older. To me, it's the wanting to change now and getting your life back rather than loosing another 20+ years then attempting to enjoy the rest of your life. why miss out on those other years if you don't have to.

It's much easier to bounce back from surgery when you are younger and you will reap the benefits for much longer. I wouldn't want to go through most of my life being overweight, only to lose a bunch of it and not be able to enjoy my healthy new life. Sooner the better, I wish I had done this years ago.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
