Does anyone else get really sick from eating eggs. I am 6 months post surgery and I Cannot eat eggs. I instantly get that "stuck" thing going on no matter how small of bites I take or how well I chew, i have to throw up. Then I get extremely nauseated and vomit until I hurt. Scares me, I am so afraid of band slippage. Guess I will no longer even try an egg.

I've eaten scrambled eggs several times without a problem. However, a couple of weeks ago, I was at a restaurant and had a bacon and cheese omelet. What a mistake! What made it especially unpleasant was that it happened at a small, crowded restaurant with only 1 bathroom for everyone to use so when the bathroom was occupied, I ended up having to run outside to the parking lot and throw up in some bushes. I went home soon after but I still spent the next 2 hours PBing what couldn't have been more than 5-6 bites. Not fun... So my suggestion would be to evaluate the type of eggs you're eating. If it's something thick, stay away, but something like scrambled or maybe over easy might work better. Also, eggs get rubbery when reheated so try to avoid that too.

I hope I never have issues with eggs! They are a staple in my diet!

I don't eat scrambled eggs because I have heard they can get stuck. I eat fried or hard boilded eggs.< /p>

I've heard so many people say this about eggs and it puzzles me. You would think that a scrambled egg would go down fine. I haven't tried an egg since my 2nd fill because I am scared to. Can someone explain why this happens with eggs?

I have had 5 fills and am starting to have restriction. I have eggs whites pretty often. Dont know if it's because their egg whites and not whole eggs but knock on wood no problems.

Often it's the consistency of the eggs that's the problem. Things to try are

1) do not overcook them, leave them slightly moist.

2) add some cottage cheese to eggs before scrambling, this helps to keep them moist. I tried this, didn't care for it much, but I know others who love it.

3) have some veggies in with the eggs. I often make a mushroom, spinach & bacon bits scramble. The combination of texture works for me.

4) don't have the eggs for Breakfast. Maybe it's a morning thing that you're too tight. They might work better at lunch or supper. Or at least have a cup or two of something warm (coffee, tea, Water?) then after you've been awake 30 minutes or more, try the eggs.

I haven't had issues with eggs yet at 22 months out, but I've always liked moist eggs. Anything DRY gives me fits. Good luck.

Hi there,

I am almost three years post surgery and I have very tight restriction. I love eggs but cannot eat scrambled eggs prepared normally (especially in a restaurant!). What I can eat is boiled eggs, devilled eggs, over-easy eggs. If I am really craving scrambled eggs, I have them only at home and drench them in salsa before even trying. Otherwise they just end up making me miserable from throwing up.

Good luck and don't give up on eggs- they are a wonderful source of protein!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
