Recommended Posts

Jeez, stuck in the house for 3 days. I am stir crazy and feel the need to eat all day long! I am doing the best I can, but it is so, so hard! I have been trying to get back on track from the holidays, but I keep flubbing! I purposely went out to shovel some more today, just to get out of the house!

I agree, Monday was one week since surgery for me, I wanted to get out of the house so bad, so I decided to go back to work and shoveled my car out. Not a very good idea one week post op and I hope I did not do any damage doing so, my back and arm are so sore today. I go for my post op tomorrow, not sure whether to tell my surgeon. But as with you, I am so bored being at home (always off on Tuesday and Wednesday), there is so much snow and it is so cold, I can't really go for a walk, and not risking going to the gym until my recheck.

I'm one week post op also. I am just taking it easy. I did some laundry and bending. Went back to my preschool and worked a few hours on Monday. But, I felt kind of weak and dizzy. Called my doctor and went to see physician's assistant today. She told me that it is still a major surgery and the body needs to heal. Take it easy and walk, not heavy lifting of any kind. Be so careful. I pushed it too much, didn't stay up on my pain meds and I'm kind of paying for it this week.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
