Hey NOV Bandsters. It's been a while, how r u?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to see how everyone is doing. I was banded on November 7th and have not been here in a while with all the Holiday stuff going on and I went to mexico for about 10 days on vacation. I managed not to gain any weight but gained about 3 lbs when I came back. Holidays are the worst I have been eating a lil bit of everything. I had lost a total of 36 lbs and then gained back 3. Not too bad I guess. I am scheduled for my 1st fill on Jan 4th and I hope this will boost my weight loss. I am so excited with the 33 lbs I have lost. I am just checking in and want to know how everyone is doing whether it be success or hard times please reply and fill us on on how you are doing with you band. Overall I love my band it has helped me control my eating tremendously and a lil exercise does not hurst of course. I hope all of you guys are doing well and I can't wait to hear from you. Have a Happy New Year and I hope you succeed and accomplish all your new years resolutions.

I was banded on November 9th and I guess I am a slow loser because I have only lost 19 lbs post op but I lost 17 pre op so that is 36 total but I am doing well and very hopeful. I too am getting a fill On Jan 6. Hopefully the weight loss will speed up. Very happy I chose the Lap Band.

Hi, I'm wondering where everyone went! I was banded Nov 28, and so far I'm down 23 lbs, pre and post op. I usually gain weight over the holidays so I am pretty happy. I get my first fill in 2 weeks. This sight helps me remain focused on what I am eating and doing since I'm banded and I really appreciate it.

I was banded on Nov. 29 and have lost 37 pounds (15 pre-op). I feel great - lots of energy. The only days I was hungry was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I think that was because of all the food around. I am getting my first fill on Jan. 16.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
