Holidays and gaining

I have to admit, I have had NO self control. I have been eaing Cookies and fuge, foods that

I know I shouldnt because, I have not been able to control myself. I have been eating small portions of food but being around family, some of which dont know about my surgery, has been super hard. And I am also going to admit that on a few occasions i ate something because I wanted to and didnt care that I shouldnt be. Now, its become an everyday occurance that I am eating things I shouldn't.

I am hoping that now the holidays are over the availability of the foods i shouldnt eat will not be available. I havent brought these things into the house but have been around it all day everyday.

what gives you will power?

This is how I handled Christmas. Admittedly I work from home so I only keep appropriate foods in my house, and don't have to deal with food in the worksplace. At my family's Christmas I let myself eat a little of things that I only get at Christmas. For example my mother makes old school homemade Chex Mix. She only makes it at Christmas and I she did'nt make any for me to take home. So I ate some at the party and that was it. Someone on here commented that it's a holiday not a holiweek. I think that is a good mentality. Denying yourself all treats is bad for you emotionaly and sets you up for failure. The important part is seeing them as treats and that you can only have them at special times.

I managed to lose 3lbs over my Christmas vacation while eating very tiny pieces of cake, Cookies, and chocolate. I kept all of my portions very small so I wouldn't gain but I felt very satisfied because I wasn't denying myself. I also worked out harder than what I would if I wasn't eating sweets. I was out of town but I went on my sister's guest pass. So, I guess the only advice I would have if you are gonna do it work it off! Oh, and just eat a little bit and move on.

Don't beat yourself up about it - you can either keep headed the way that you are and focus on what you did "wrong" - or just chalk it up to the holidays and having a treat and focus on getting back on track and seeing results again. I did the same thing - man I fell off the wagon big time! I think I ate more sweets and treats than I had in a year! But I decided it wasn't worth it to dwell on what was done, it is better to focus on the future and getting things moving in the right direction again. Chin up - you can do it! :)

Hang in there!

I have gained 5 lb over the holidays, but I was faced with the "perfect storm"....I had been overfilled and my Dr took out all but 2 cc from my band on Dec 14 (perfect timing huh?) PLUS it was the holidays, PLUS the weather here and extra holidays chores did away with my exercise routine!!! YIKES. But I see the Dr today for a re-fill (hubby tried tot alk me into waiting until next week so we could have New Years ton "continue the celebration" but I know how that would go) so I am back on track. I had just gotten to the point where I was losing regularly and don't want to give that up. My surgery was in March but I did not get to my sweet spot until late August and that is when regular (but admittedly slow) loss began. Ready for 2011 and my goal!!

Chin up! It's all ok, just remember that it's going to happen, I myself gained 12 pounds in 3 months after doing so well for almost 2 years. Just get back on track and push back harder, dont let it get ya down cause if ya do. Well we know the outcome. Stay Strong! :) :)

Today is a new day. Start fresh & give yourself some mini goals. Will power for me comes from within. I want to be able to horse around with my boys and play sports with them. (ok, really i want to give my 13yr old 115lb wrestler a run for his money in the gym! LOL) I want to be able to make that 20 mile bike ride next summer without being the only whiner the last 2 miles, in fact we'd like to increase it this year. I want to look good in my pictures when we go out cross country this summer. More importantly, i want to be healthy. Try making yourself a list of the "why's" you needed this journey. Write it down, carry it with you....remember the long haul is something you really really want. We'll all off fall off now & then but the getting back up & learning how not to fall again makes those goals reachable.

Best of luck with your journey!

I feel so much better knowing that I am not the only one who slipped up over the holidays but I am really committed again now. I signed up for a WW at Work program that starts Thursday Jan 13 and I felt that would give me a weekly weigh in goal for the next 10 weeks and some verbal support from the lunchtime speaker and others who are trying to lose. I don't plan to tell them I have my lapband, only that I need to lose 50 more lbs and want help! Keep on trying everyone.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
