Anyone on here over 60 years old besides me?

Recommended Posts

Hi! All, Iam 62 and live in England but went to Hungary to have my op. They were lovely and I could not have been treated better. I could have had it done on the NHS here but I would have had to wait and at this age I thought that I had earned it!

The Over 60 club is apparently on vacation. But I'll sign in anyway. Age 63, a mere babe. Or perhaps a future babe!

Sept. I will be 59 and that is getting up there. I love being banded and am doing very well. Clothes sizes are dropping and I just can't say how much I love the band. From size 22-24 down to 16 and 12-14's depending on the piece and brand of course.

My pictures are on the Before and After thread. I am pleased to say that my Jowls are shrinking as my weight is going down. I will need a Tummy Tuck as this is one area that has no tone at all. My neck is looking thinner but a bit crepe-y. (Like crepe paper) I don't know if I will have any thing done about that.

I never believed I would be able to get the surgery but it sure happened and I am thrilled with it. My difficulties have been non-existant. I had a slight hernia in my esophagus but they did nothing to fix it since it was small. I have not had vomiting and only one PB. I hadn't chewed well and it was a Breakfast biscuit.

I highly recommend the band to anyone if they qualify and the doctor agrees to it. They know best. I was told at first that the Roux N Y was the best for me but it was not my first choice. Doctor agreed to do the band and it was easy for him to get it in. (He said so)

Hi All ! I am 62 and had my band august 05. I weighed 280 pounds and now I'm 157. At this time I'm in Hungary having a Tummy Tuck, which has gone well so far. I couldn't get this on NHS, well I didn't try because it is not really a health matter, so I didn't think they would agree. Trouble is all my Hungarian relatives want to feed me up as I recover! All the best to everybody

Hi All:

I am almost 64, had the surgery in October 04' when I was 62, and would do it all over again. I am 25lbs from my goal weight and feeling wonderful. My knees and feet love not having to carry around 75 extra pounds every day! I also wish that I would have had this option 15 years ago when I started to put all this weight on.

I went to Mexico for my surgery (self-pay) and would recommend Dr. Ortiz to all.....I had a wonderful experience.

I wish all of you continued success on this "Journey to good Helath" and remember to be good to your Band!

Good for you Shar! I know you must feel better! I have arthritis really bad and that is the thing I am looking forward to the most....being lighter on my poor old joints. Plus looking better aint a bad outcome either!

Hi All !, I have lost 130 pounds and now have the blood pressure of a young girl. Unfortunatly I also have the body of a 100 years old woman ! I'm recovering from a Tummy Tuck and go to see if my stitches can come out tomorrow. Somtimes i think that i resemble one of those shai- pei dogs that never grow into their skins !

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
