Surgery tomorrow and I'm sick!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm fighting a cold this weekend (which I NEVER am) and am concerned I will get to the hospital in the morning and they will tell me to go home!

Should I reveal that I'm not feeling well, or not say anything if I don't have a fever? Anyone have experience with this?

Tell the truth, its always the best answer. You need to be healthy after surgery.

Sorry you don't feel well, but tomorrow is the beginning of the new stage of your life!!!!

I had a friend who had a WLS last week and she had a cold. Obviously all docs are different, but they proceeded with her cause it wasn't in her chest.

Be honest and good luck!

Thanks guys! This is ridiculous I know! The anesthesiologist thought I had a cold when I didn't so I'm afraid they won't allow the cold :( I sure hope so I"m so sick of this clear liquid diet!!

Make sure you tell them, you'd rather tell the truth than to get really sick or something. But I think you're okay as long as you haven't been running a fever or currently have one. Best of luck with your surgery!!

I would tell the doc. You don't want to have a horrible cough right after surgery...that is NO fun!

I hope that you feel better!

Had the surgery! Back home. Sore but lost 9 pounds during the 7 day pre-op diet!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
