Colace after surgery

Recommended Posts

I am starting my 3rd day post op. I don't want to get bound up. Is it safe to take a colace pill. It's in a gel cap and I'm afraid of getting it stuck. Any ideas about this subject would be appreciated. B)

I don't know about the pill but my doctor gave me a perscription for liquid colace. Maybe they sell it over the counter?

I know this is TMI, but I haven't had a BM since TUESDAY. It's kinda freaking me out.

Check with your Dr. but I haven't had a problem swallowing any pills. The Dr sent me home with Panadol and Vit B tablets. I also have 2 cc's in my band.

And yes its not fun being bound up with a sore tummy. I wish I had taken something and still need to get something to make things easier and its nearly 3 weeks post op. blink.gif

I took colace gel tabs fine 2 days after surgery. Go for it, they aren't that big and you shouldn't have any liquid in your band.

I am taking two of them. My doc wanted me to pop them but they are foul, so I swallow them. No problem so far. I also eat high Protein, high Fiber Cereal, try to drink at least 48 oz of Water with Benefiber. It's workin a lot better than it was the first month.

Best wishes to you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
