Did anyone wish they thought of bringing anything after they got to hospital?:o Something you wish you had after the surgery? I'm preparing what I will be bringing on Tuesday when I go.

I had too much crap. Just needed Water, prescription pain meds and a heating pad. Then I had a little bit of broth and Protein Shakes but I didn't have much appatite.

Never needed the tylenol, nausea meds, and I used the gas-x but didn't seem to helP much

The hospital should provide all of the medications and food you will need. Did you have to do a pre admit registration? All i brought was an extra pair of underwear and There was nothing else i needed.

Change of clothes, clean undies, gas x bc most surgons don't order it, cell phone, cell phone charger, magazines (not book, too many naps) robe for hall walking, and my shoes I wore were slip on/off crocks that I wore to walk the halls...and yes I used everything (hair brush, tooth brush and paste, and deodorant also!!)

I was in the hospital at 9:30am and home by 3:30pm. I just showed up with the clothes I was wearing. Lol! I guess it depends if you're staying the night or not.

i packed like i was planning on spending the night at a hotel lol

i brought pajamas, a book, my iPod, shower items including hair dryer, curling Iron, makeup etc. and new clothes for the drive home.

i didn't use ANY of it.

i didn't feel like i had enough energy to change out of my hospital gown. i was too drugged up to read or listen to music. the next morning there was no way i was in any shape to take a real shower and fix my hair so i felt yucky after just using a wash cloth that i ended up wearing the same clothes i can in with with my hair pulled back in a ponytail.

I brought a change of clothes for the day to go home, toothbrush, chapstick since you don't get any liquids right away and my lips were horrible, robe since they made me walk out in the hall during the day, cell phone and charger.

I wish I would have thought of Water. My mouth was so horribly dry, I had to have my hubby stop at a fast food place and get me a cup of ice.

I took very few things. Chap stick, comfy clothes, slip on shoes, liquid tylenol, gas x. I was out patient, and only stayed a few hrs after surgery was done.

i brought an extra change of clothes because i had to stay over night. but one thing i could not have lived without was my pillows. that was the first thing i asked for when they rolled me in my room. and it made a big difference. i was comfortable and felt more at ease. i did bring to much i had all my reading material for this surgery a bariatric book that i loved to read because it has recipes, so i had an extra bag with that stuff. then i left with a duffle bag full of stuff from the bariatric clinic and hospital. but if you are an overnighter bring your own pillows it will be the best decision you have made. smell of home and comfort. what could be better. God Bless on you surgery! Merry Christmas to all!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
