I'm exactly 3 weeks post op today and I can honestly say I'm completed bored with food (especially Breakfast)! I don't want another Protein shake, Soup, Greek yogurt, egg, etc ever again! Does anyone else feel this way? I'm now on a full solid food diet but I just don't enjoy food like I used to.

I don't have the desire to order a pizza or eat a tub of ice cream, but I would just enjoy some healthy variety in my life.

Does anyone have any websites where I could find some recipes to add some "life" back into my diet and stay on track? (Besides BariatricEating.com)

I'm -21 pounds and very happy with my progress, but I don't want it to to be like this for the rest of my life. Help!

I too have lost some of the enjoyment of eating. I don't have a lot of variety in what I eat. I have found things that work for me. Have you tried marinated meats? I find them tastier and moister than regular meat. I like perdue perfect chicken and marinated pork loin. Hope this helps.

I will be having my surgery on December 23rd. I have been on Optifast for the last 13 days so I can relate to your wanting something else. I just ordered from Barnes and Noble these two books: Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery and recipes for Life After Weight Loss Surgery. I have not received them yet but if you go onto their website you can read a portion of the books. They both looked very interesting to me so I ordered them actually used to save some money. I too live in Florida. My son lives in Ft Lauderdale. I'm in St Pete. Congratulations on your weight loss so far. I;m very excited to get on with my journey. A bit nervous too, I hope this helps you in your Quest.

I also have the cookbook Eating Well After weightloss Surgery and I love it. I'm kind of a passionate cook and I post a lot of recipes on my blog too (I'm posting from my phone so I can't paste the link but its in my signature). I take many recipes that are not designed for WLS patients and alter them. A few tips for cutting out calories in recipes (baking recipes are a little different and you just have to experiment to see what works): use 1/4 of the amount or less of oil a recipe calls for. Its amazing how little oil you really need to cook. Substitute things like eggs (use egg beaters or whites), sugar (use splenda or agave nectar). If you need flour, use a little less and use soy flour for extra Protein. If a recipe calls for red meat, why not try to make it with fish or tofu? There are many little tricks but take a recipe and see what you can omit/substitute without cutting out flavor. Be creative!

I looked at your blog violinist and can't wait to try the burgers and lasagna recipes. Are there others I can find that you have made and shared? I too have been a really good cook for years and would still like to cook but much healthier now. B) Thank you.

I am also bored with food (I am still on the pureed stage). I am tired of chicken salad and eggs!! Ugh! I found an AWESOME blog that lists so many recipes I'm dying to try once I get on solid foods. I highly recommend checking out eatingwelllivingthin.wordpress.com. The blog has recipes listed on the right hand side and she also takes phenomenal pictures of her food...which makes it look all the better! She has had WLS and all of her recipes are catered for people who have had WLS but without sacrificing any of the taste :-)

Please check it out and let me know what you think!

Part of the "magic" of the band for me is that food just doesn't sound good sometimes. Over time I have stopped obcessing about food. The head hunger even gets much better. I don't miss things like I thought I would.

Sometimes I am just bored with food in general and that can be a good thing. It's the ol eat to live vs. live to eat thing.

Yay! Im so glad :) The edamame burgers are so delicious (my fiance, who would eat red meat 3 meals a day, said he prefers them to regular burgers) and the lasagna was also so delish! If you scroll through old posts, you'll be able to see more recipes (I usually put in the title something like "Recipe:..." or "Edamame Burger Recipe!"...something like that). Let me know what you make and how it turns out!!

This is me as well. I just don't miss things like I thought I would. I used to love bread, but I really don't miss it. Of course, I would like to be able to eat a homemade biscuit on Christmas morning, but it's not a big deal anymore. I don't miss Diet Coke or soft drinks at all.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
