twitching and spasms at incision sites

Recommended Posts

8 full days after being banded, my port site incision is still a bit sore. The rest are okay, a bit itchy though sometimes. However, sometimes I get some pretty serious spasms and twitches in the incisions that kind of hurt a little.

anyone experience this kind of behavior ?

I've had a few of those. Feels weird. Not so much painful, as it is unexpected. I think it's your system adjusting to the band being there. After I few days I didn't feel them anymore. If it's a problem, you may want to call your surgeon's office and ask them what's up with it.

I found wearing the restricting band they put on me after surgery was really uncomfortable after a few days, because the hair on my stomach area was starting to grow back. I was getting a razor itch kind of thing. Removing the restricting band and give my incisions "air time" helped a lot. After a few days that also subsided. Now, if I wear the restrictive band, I put a t-shirt on under it.

I'm 5 weeks post op from getting port revised. I get massive iching and spasms at port and incisions, but, is getting better day at a time. I notice that when I exercise I tend to get the spasms. Ice helps. I also notice that the itching gets really bad with gas in the belly. GaxX or mylanta helps with this. It gets extremely frustrating. Hang in there. Jake

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
