Sorry, this will prob be TMI...(could my band have slipped?)

Recommended Posts

For the past two nights after dinner I've had major diarrhea (gross, sorry :( )

I'm transitioning from mushies to solids and pretty much everything is going down fine, but smaller portions than preop for sure.

Does diarrhea ever mean band slippage? I've not had it after earlier meals in the day. But both nights right after I aye I had horrible stomach cramps, and then.... Very painful. I feel fine otherwise except for this morning o feel bloated with gas. I don't think I have the flu, stomach virus etc.

I can't just pop into see the surgeon, I had my surgery on the opposite side of the country to where I live.

Any insight is so appreciated.

T ypically if your band has slipped, you will have nausea and it will be hard to eat. Reflux will also be pretty bad. It is probably just your body adjusting to the changes in diet. If you are still concerned though, I would at least call your dr.

Doesn't sound like a slipped band to me. People who have had their band slip report not being able to keep anything at all down.

Even if you can not visit your surgeon you should be able to call his office and get answers to questions like this.

Hi there. Are you 100% sure you didn't catch a stomach bug? I remember when I first had my band and i had issues, I immediately thought something was wrong with the band itself, not anything 'regular'. If your band had slipped, you definitely would have a good case reflux and you wouldn't be able to keep anything at all down, so it really doesn't sound like a slip to me. I would just call the doctor and get his opinion. Web MD and a ton of internet searching always made me even more scared, so a quick phone call to the doc might be better for you.

Good luck! I hope you start to feel better soon!! Please let us know what the doc says if you call!

Hi. I think I will call, you guys are right about that. I definitely don't have any reflux. Maybe I am just equating anything stomach related to the band because this is so new to me (being banded). I know what u mean about searching aligments online, makes you think there is LOTS wrong with u....lol

Thanks for all replies.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
