I had my surgrey last year and it seams like it is taken forever to loose weight, i have lost 63lbs so far but thats not much for having this band on for a year. I average out only 5 to 7 pounds a month. I see pictures of people that got this lapband and they are loosing around 10lbs a month. Am i doing something wrong? Does anyone have some good advise for me, because where i live theres noone to talk to, and i don't know what to expect.....need advise please...thanks

Hi Sonya, and welcome!

With a band being restrictive only, you should expect 1-2 pounds per week loss. 63 pounds in a year is awesome! DON'T compare yourself to others. There are so many factors that go into weight loss.

When I was actively losing, my average was 3/4 pound per week. Less than one pound. But I got healthy. My blood pressure dropped. My cholesterol dropped. My blood sugar dropped. If I had compared myself to others, I'd have lost hope, but you know what? I kept plodding along, and here I am at a normal body weight, with healthy blood work results.

Focus on the positive! You can do it, you are doing it! Keep up the good work.

Before you were banded, could you have lost 63 pounds in a year? I know I couldn't have. I know for certain, if I had, I'd not have had any hope of keeping it off. Now I know I can keep it off. I have a very powerful tool to help me. So you do!

Come here for support, there are bunches of people here to help, it is where I come.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
